Thanksgiving came and went too fast. Where does the time go anyway? It's almost 2010! Dang! That's just too wierd. Anyway, we had a big group for Thanksgiving this year. We had everyone around except Erik & Stephanie and family. We sure did miss them but we had fun anyway. The Hunsakers were with us as well so we had over 30 people over at mom & dads. We ate lots of great food and visited and played games and had a wonderful day!

Halloween has come and gone yet again. I was thinking of ideas for a costume for months until I found this hat that reminded me of the Alex Russo character from the show 'Wizards of Waverly Place'. I decided it wouldn't be too hard to figure out the rest of the outfit so I was Alex for Halloween. Well, it wasn't her entirely... I didn't get a black wig or really cool leggings so it was inspired by Alex. I guess it was better than my 'runny nose' idea ( wear a running suit and stick papers on myself with the word 'No') or my tickled pink idea ( wear all pink and carry a feather).

Katie as Alex...sort of

My friend later suggested I be Harper- Alex's friend. That would have been fun too. Going around giving people the 'Harper stare' but maybe next year. :)

Have you seen the beautiful colors that have been popping up here and there recently? The leaves are changing! I was driving to church last Sunday and I had to take a second to enjoy some of nature's beauty- Heavenly's Father's paint brush at work....as it were. :0) I took these pictures in Kaliningrad, Russia while I was on my mission. There were just so many picture taking opportunities. Fall at its best! :)

The weather has been so lovely that I hate to see it get cooler but with the cold weather comes great things like holidays (halloween, thanksgiving, & Christmas!!!), holiday goodies and winter activities. ;) But I don't want to wish time would fly by. I just want to enjoy each new day as it comes.

Yeah!
I just love this saying. It seems appropriate since we've been having rain off and on for awhile now.

Hey! I'm finally back on my blog. Summer has been fun and crazy and it's time to share a bit about what I've been doing. So, the last entry was about the 4th of July (my, my it has been awhile) so let's talk about the rest of July and August.
July was fun b/c it was my birthday month and my brother Erik and his family came over from Georgia to visit. We did so many things it was awesome. I think that the trip to Jump On It for Lizzy's birthday was one of my favorite days. Jump On It is a place where they have tons of trampolines and you can literally jump around the room. What a GREAT workout!

Having a Jumpin' good time!
Oh, and we finally updated our family picture after 7 years. Of course, the day we have them taken I was recovering from the stomach flu. *sigh* Although, I have been told that it doesn't show in the photos.....thank goodness!

August was lovely as well. I went down to Cedar City for the Shakespearean Festival which was wonderful. I love SUU's campus. It makes me feel as if I'm walking through a Shakespearean park.

After the Festival, we headed further south to the Grand Canyon which was quite breathtaking. The view was spectacular! It's amazing to think that people come from all around the world to see these National Parks and I'm lucky enough to be so close to them.

I feel rather silly posting so many pictures of just myself but hey....it's my blog and I haven't posted for awhile.  More later...............

Independence Day this year was a blast. Emma, LeGrand, Kevin, Kari and I participated in the Freedom Run for the Freedom Festival in Provo. It was awesome. This was my second 5K and I did pretty well. We had a lot of fun doing this together. We later enjoyed a BBQ with the fam and did fireworks in the evening.

5K Finishers!
We did it!!! We're all going to get ready for next year's 5K's. Mom was even thinking of joining us....which would be great. ;)

We told Kevin to bend over since he's so much taller than his sisters. :0)

Well, I made it through my first 5K. It was fun to be able to do something together with my sisters and brother. I was afraid that it might rain but the weather turned out lovely and everyone had a good time.

Picture
The run was sponsored by the Orem city firefighters. It was fun to see all of the fire engines and ambulances all over the place. We had to take a pic in front of it. At the finish line, the firemen and others were there cheering us on. I had to concentrate on not tripping over my feet and falling flat on my face in front of everyone. How embarrassing would that be? haha  We're all getting ready for the freedom festival 5K on the 4th. "Run fer fun? What the heck kind of fun is that?" haha

Sooo, after watching The Biggest Loser and getting motivated, I have decided to give the daily workouts a try. Emma and I have been working out with Bob and Jillian on the DVD's that have come out and we're working up a sweat. It actually feels really great. We've been following Kari's example and walking more as well. In fact, Emma and Kari are both trying to convince me to sign up and do the 5k fun run for Summerfest next month. I suppose that I will do it but I just hope that I won't be the last one to cross the finish line. We'll see what happens. Don't wanna end up like this guy here. ;0)

It has occurred to me that it's been awhile since I've updated my blog. A lot has happened in the last few weeks. Emma had her baby earlier than anticipated and I've been helping her and LeGrand by watching Talmage.. It's been lots of fun (other than the poopie diapers and early mornings). Fun times. :)

Lately I have had more time to cook. I enjoy looking up new recipes and trying them out. The food channel is really fun to watch as well but sometimes they make cooking look really easy. I saw this clip of Brian Regan and I just laughed and laughed. Emma and I were talking about this subject just a few days ago and it was just funny that Brian agreed with us. :0)

This is the other half of the 'Random Things List' that I posted on my facebook account. I tend to ramble on so I split up the list. Enjoy!

16.    “You’ve got mail”—I love getting email or snail mail or text messages. It’s kind of sad but I get all giddy when I check my mail and see messages for me.

17.    “Wii-yeah!”—I have been trying to get back into my regular exercise routine ‘cause ever since I graduated it’s gone down hill. Wii-Fit is great with the yoga and the strength training. I’ve also been going to the track with my sisters when I can.

18.    “A Book?!”—It’s so nice that I have time now to read books that aren’t textbooks. I’m currently reading ‘ The Candy Shop War’ by Brandon Mull. Fun Story. ☺ Don’t tell me how it ends if you’ve already read it. I’m almost done.

19.    “I ‘shoot’ people”—I love to take pictures. I was actually majoring in Photography before my mission. Having a digital camera really helps with getting photos on my laptop. I’m trying to get a negative scanner to get my old photos online. I have a huge bag of negatives from my mission that I still want to get scanned.

20.     “Secret’s in the sauce”—Winger’s sticky fingers are the BEST!. (They’re boneless chicken fingers smothered in winger’s special sauce). YUM, soo good. They’re up there with the Orange Chicken. *drool…*

21.    “B-B-Q”—Summer family BBQ’s are so much fun. I love the smells, the atmosphere, the games....yeah!

22.    “Top of the mornin’ to ya”—I occasionally spout out in a British, Scottish, Aussie, or Pirate accent just for kicks. I’m probably not very authentic but it sure is fun. ;) I can listen to an authentic accent for hours.

23.    “I’m free”—Going on the accent theme, I’m a fan of British comedies and sci-fi like Doctor Who.  Laughs and the accents….great stuff.

24.    “A Pod for all seasons”—Yeah, I love my iPod’s. I love music and so if I’m walking or cleaning or cooking or whatever…I usually have the pods in my ears. Hopefully they aren’t apart of some kind of alien takeover like what happened in that Doctor Who episode. Wo, that was wild.

25.    “ Yes, fast passes”—Disneyland is just so….magical. ;) Whenever I’m there, I try to ignore the wall-to-wall people, the heat and the walking and just ‘go to my happy place’. Of course, it’s usually more fun with great family and friends around you.

26.    “ Pioneer Trek”—I have a goal to go on a whole church history tour. I’ve been brushing up on my church history lately and it just makes my desire grow and grow. I’ve never been to the east and I’d love to see it along with the history sites. *sigh* one day…

27.    “You rise, You shine”—Yeah, I’m not really what you’d call a ‘morning person’. I would rather stay up late than get up early to do something.  I’m actually trying to get to bed earlier so that I can get up earlier. It’s a work in progress. ☺
